Weirdness of House Boon to Those Working on Rare Diseases

Quote from Sandra de Castro Buffington, the director of the Hollywood, Health & Society program of the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center.

“One of the things we love about House is that they address some
of the more obscure diseases. Sometimes they are actually prevalent in
developing countries and not so common here. House is always the one
show we can count on to address topics that other writers of American
television series wouldn’t find room for.”

Buffington says they are studying how the shows teach Americans about diseases that are rare in the United States but cause widespread illness in Africa.
